Siding repair and replacement

Siding fails at the corners, around windows, and anywhere water sat behind the panel. We open the question of what the wall is doing, then price a repair or a replacement that matches the damage.

Repair or a full elevation

A cracked panel, a loose course, or a hole from a limb can be a repair when the rest of that wall is sound and a match is still available. Sun-faded siding rarely matches a brand-new piece. We will tell you if a patch will show.

When the wall is soft, wavy, or open at the seams on more than a small area, replacing the elevation is the honest job. Painting over that does not dry the sheathing.

Materials we work on

Vinyl, fiber cement, and wood each fail differently. Vinyl cracks and pulls off the starter. Fiber cement breaks at nail lines and at the bottom course where sprinklers hit it. Wood rots at the ends and at the trim. The quote names the material we are installing, not a generic 'siding package.'

If the roof flashing dumped water behind the siding, we want that roof detail fixed in the same scope. A new wall under a bad kickout flashing will get wet again.

Siding questions

Can you replace one side of the house?

Yes. If one elevation is failing and the others are fine, we price that wall. We will say if the color will not match the remaining sides.

Do you cover the old siding?

Only when the wall behind it is dry and solid. Covering rotten sheathing hides the problem. If we have to pull the old layer off, that is written on the quote.

Is siding part of a roof appointment?

It can be. A lot of siding damage shows up while we are already looking at a roof leak. Ask for both on the form.
